Accord Tourer concept

Is it a new wagon...is it a new Accord...could it be both?

Cleverly side-stepping "we were there first" accusations from BMW and Peugeot, Honda's new wagon concept has been called the Accord Tourer -- not the Accord Touring.

Unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show, the Accord Tourer conveys the new styling direction for the car we know as the Accord Euro.

It's known in Australia as the 'Accord Euro', since the wider American-design Accord is also sold in Australia. In Europe, the 'Euro' is just 'Accord'. Confused yet?

The next generation of this car ('Euro') is due to be launched at the Geneva motor show in March of next year and the car will go on sale in Britain a few months later. This new car should not be confused with the new American Accord, which has been reported previously here.

It's likely that the new Accord Euro will adopt some, if not all, of the styling features presented in the Accord Tourer concept.

Honda advises that the Accord Tourer is a wider car than the current Accord Euro, so that extra width may carry across in the next generation model.

For the European market, the next Accord Euro will be sold in both sedan and wagon form with 2.0/2.4-litre petrol engines and a 2.2-litre diesel, all of which will comply with the Euro 5 emissions standard.

Honda advises that the new Accord Euro will hit Australian showrooms during the third quarter of next year. Will we see wagon and diesel versions?

There's a rhetorical question to bear in mind.
