Actor Idris Elba named Ford's ‘creative partner’ for upcoming Mustang SUV
Ford's upcoming Mustang-inspired all-electric SUV is set to get the Hollywood treatment with actor Idris Elba.What a creative partnership means is unclear, but if the British born actor, writer, producer, DJ, rapper, and singer’s past forays are anything to go by, you know it is going to be impressive. Does this rule him out of playing the next James Bond? Only time will tell.
Some first look images from the upcoming launch video have been released by Ford which show the Avengers star walking through a handful of classic 'stangs on the street as well as behind the wheel of what we expect to be the new electric SUV.
This partnership with Ford has a surprisingly personal connection too, with Elba and his father Winston both previously working at a Ford factory in the UK.
“Most people don’t know this, but I worked at Ford as a young guy. My dad also worked at Ford. It’s practically in my blood. So working on this project and getting behind the wheel of a car that takes us all towards the future feels like things are coming full circle, but with more exhilaration and tech.” Says Elba.
More information is set to be revealed about the new electric SUV as well as Elba’s creative partnership role when the yet to be named Mustang-inspired SUV is unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 18th 2019.
The all-new vehicle is said to have a pure-electric driving range of up to 600km. We will have all the latest details on the new SUV as well as any further Idris Elba news as it comes to hand.
