The 2025 Dacia Duster Pick-Up has just been revealed and gone on sale in Romania with a teeny tiny tray, room for four passengers, a sub-500kg payload and a pair of hybrid powertrain options.
Built in partnership with Romanian coachbuilder Romturingia, orders for the miniature ute have just opened in its native market.
The pint-sized pick-up is 4345mm long, 2069mm wide, has a 1050x1000mm tray and can carry up to 430kg, making it fairly impractical for most Aussie tradies, though the tray does come with two lateral metal rails and four tie-down points.
It’s also a rather pricey proposition, starting from €25,983 (excluding VAT) in Romania – a little over $46,000 before on-roads here.
“If it became available for Australia, we would certainly consider it,” a Renault Australia spokesperson told carsales.
Available in three trim grades – Expression, Extreme, Journey – the Duster Pick-Up can be had with one of two powertrains: a front-wheel drive 104kW hybrid or an all-paw 97kW mild-hybrid.
Dacia says a full suite of safety gear is fitted to the ute, including autonomous emergency braking (AEB), traffic sign recognition with speed alert, blind spot monitoring, and lane keep assist.
Meantime, a Duster Cargo has just been launched in the UK, replacing the SUV’s rear pews with a flat wooden floor to offer more space; it can now swallow up to 1149 litres of cargo and carry the same 430kg as the ute.
There’s also a mesh bulkhead to separate cargo from the two front seats.
The baby ute hasn’t been confirmed for launch in Australia, but it’s not hard to see how or why Renault Australia would be keen to offer it here; the Duster SUV has been a runaway success so far, and we all know how much Aussies love their utes.
