Advanced Geely Farizon SV van edges close to Aussie debut

Battery-electric delivery van confirmed for the UK market, paving the way for its debut here

The 2025 Geely Farizon SV has been confirmed for the UK, with the all-electric delivery van set to arrive in showrooms early next year priced from £30,000 ($A60,000).

Obviously available in right-hand drive with the choice of three battery sizes, three weights and three roof heights, the Farizon SV (super van) will offer a maximum payload of 1800kg.

Claimed to have undergone “a rigorous one-million-mile testing and development programme”, Geely is certain it will meet every European standard, “including durability, safety and sustainability”.

Built on a new dedicated modular EV platform, the Farizon SV prioritises cargo space, range, handling and safety, with Geely deploying its advanced cell-to-pack technology that’s said to improve battery capacity, save weight and enhance body stiffness.

Fresh tech for the segment includes dual-redundancy drive-by-wire braking and steering to ensure the driver will never be left without steering or braking.

The British launch line-up will comprise two of the three eventual battery options, specifically a 67kWh unit and an 83kWh pack, the latter of which is said to provide a range of more than 400km on a single charge.

Later, a bigger 106kWh battery will also be available, upping the ante to 558km on the WLTP test cycle.

There’s no word yet on whether Geely has any plans to export the Farizon SV to Australia, but the availability of right-hand drive undoubtedly provides an opportunity in the fast-growing electric delivery van segment.

Geely Auto, meanwhile, has already announced it will launch here by mid-2025 with a full range of vehicles that will rival the likes of Toyota as well as fellow Chinese rivals, like MG and GWM.

As part of its arrival, it’s thought it might also launch sub-brands like Radar, Galaxy and Geometry marques under the Geely Auto banner, leaving the door wide open for Farizon to enter the light commercial sector.
