What's the best small car in the used market?
It's the sort of question posed all the time by young singles with little driving experience or families on a budget in need of a second car. And plenty of other buyers out there want to know the answer also.
For our inaugural running of the carsales Best Used Car Awards, we've combined the collective expertise of our vehicle reviewers, real world smarts of Redbook Inspect and the concrete market intelligence from RedBook.com.au to announce the winner in each of 10 categories.
And in 2018, the carsales best used small car is the 2012...
The Hyundai rated 44.5 points out of 50 from RedBook and 36.5 points from the five judges for a total of 81 points. RedBook values the 2012 Hyundai i30 Active between $9100 and $10,600 for private sale and used-car expert Cliff Chambers says that the i30 Active is a "surprise packet".
You can read more about the Hyundai i30 in our launch review. At the time, reviewer Ken Gratton wrote: "the i30 has not only bolstered Hyundai’s sales in this country by a considerable margin, it has helped turn around perceptions of the brand."
