Mitsubishi's all-new replacement for the venerable Colt will be unveiled at the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney this October.
The company's new global light car, the Mirage hatchback is part of the company’s strategy to trim its global range from 30 models to just eight.
Built in Thailand, the Mirage, which Mitsubishi will introduce locally in January 2013, will compete in the light car segment with what the company claims are high levels of fuel efficiency and affordability.
It is powered by an all-new 57kW/100Nm 1.2-litre three-cylinder MIVEC engine and offers a combination of good aerodynamics (0.29Cd) and low weight (comfortably below 900kg) to deliver on its efficiency promises. Transmission choices will include a regular five-speed manual and a CVT auto.
The company is not saying anything about specification levels for the new car but the Mirage will undoubtedly play an important role in the company’s Australian future.
Mitsubishi will also be revealing an all-new versions of its Outlander SUV, plus upgraded MY13 versions of its Lancer small car, ASX mini-SUV and Pajero 4WD at the Sydney show.
