Suzuki will use next week’s Sydney motor show to unveil a fully fettled Swift Sport hot-hatch concept created by the model’s chief engineer, Naoyuki Takeuchi.
Seen previously only at the Tokyo Auto Salon earlier this year, the one-off Swift Sport show car is powered by the same 100kW/160Nm 1.6-litre petrol engine seen in the production car, but features a sportier body kit, 18-inch alloy wheels, performance brakes and a unique interior with Recaro seats.
Takeuchi-san will unveil his vision of the ultimate Swift and provide an insight into the future design and engineering direction of Suzuki’s top-selling model worldwide.
The wild Swift Sport concept will headline a range of Suzuki cars, motorcycles and watercraft on display at Darling Harbour, making it the only brand to display vehicles representing all three modes of transport.
Along with its racy Swift, Suzuki will exhibit its current SX4 and Grand Vitara models, as well as the V-Strom 650 adventure touring bike and a seven-metre bowrider boat powered by a 175hp Suzuki engine.
Suzuki said it decided to hold a joint stand at the 2012 Australian International Motor Show following the success of its advertising campaign celebrating the engineering synergies between its iconic Hayabusa sportsbike and the mid-size Kizashi sports sedan – both of which will also be on hand in Sydney.
Continuing the bike theme at Suzuki will be the GSX-R1000 racebike that took Josh Waters to victory in the 2012 Australian Superbike Championship.
