This year's Australian International Motor Show will open to the public on Friday October 19 at the Darling Harbour Convention Centre.
In the words of the organisers, it's "a break with tradition", scheduling the public opening for the day after the media preview on the Thursday.
"We have received positive feedback from exhibitors on the decision to keep the Thursday exclusively for media and industry," said Show Director, Russ Tyrie in a press release.
"Many are taking advantage of the change conducting multiple on-stand launches and presentations for staff, dealers and key customers during the afternoon.
"Furthermore, this decision also provides the general public with the added benefit of having an extra full day on the Friday to enjoy the Show."
Not quite six months out, the show's floor space is already fully booked and 25 exhibitors have committed to attending the show. This is the second occasion AIMS has been run from the Sydney venue since the decision by the FCAI (Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries) and the VACC (Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce) to share the country's premier international motor show between Sydney and Melbourne.
