Alfa Romeo 4C ends on a high note

The book is closing on the Alfa Romeo 4C sports car with the release of just 15 examples of the swansong special-edition 33 Stradale Tributo in Australia – all of which have been sold.

Local buyers are set to take delivery of the 2021 Alfa Romeo 4C 33 Stradale Tributo from August, with pricing set at $123,000 plus on-road costs for the coupe and $133,000 plus ORCs for the Spider.

There are 10 coupes and five roadsters heading this way, each representing a $34,000 premium over the equivalent standard models that are still available in showrooms until stock runs dry.

First launched here in 2015, the Alfa Romeo 4C uses a carbon-fibre tub rather than a traditional steel or aluminium frame, and has a mid-engine configuration denoting its exotic categorisation.

There are no mechanical changes to the lightweight circa-1000kg Alfa Romeo 4C, meaning the 1.7-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine (177kW/350Nm) continues to pump through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission driving the rear wheels.

A titanium Akrapovic exhaust system is included on the 33 Stradale Tributo, reducing vehicle weight further and, according to the car-maker, “producing a maximum Alfa Romeo sound when the vehicle is in Dynamic and Race mode”.

The 0-100km/h sprint still takes just 4.5 seconds, but the special-edition models do it with more style thanks to a range of upgrades inside and out, with headline changes including grey/gold-painted alloy wheels paired with the Special Ville d’Este red exterior paint.

Carbon-fibre mirror covers with Italian flag emblems are also new, as are carbon-fibre fascia vents, while the front air intake and rear diffuser are finished in piano black to add contrast.

Coupe versions of the last-ever Alfa Romeo 4C comes with a carbon-fibre roof, the Spider gets a carbon-fibre roll bar and both models add a ‘Centro Stile Alfa Romeo’ exterior badge.

Inside, the Tributo’s red-finished exposed carbon-fibre tub gives it a unique look and feel, as does the black Dinamica suede and tobacco leather seat upholstery.

There’s also stitched leather upper dashboard trim and ‘33 Stradale Tributo’ dashboard lettering with final edition badging.

The ‘33 Stradale Tributo’ name comes from Alfa Romeo’s 33 Stradale (translated: road going) car, which was launched in 1967 and limited to just 18 vehicles in total, most of them featuring the same

red exterior, grey/gold wheels and a black/tobacco interior as the swansong 4C.
