Alfa Romeo Giulia to get active aero
Italian car-maker continues rebirth with first action video showing the new Giulia's active aeroAlfa Romeo has released the first video of its new Giulia sedan, showing it will employ active aerodynamics.
In the YouTube video titled 'Alfa is Back' and launched late last night, we see a hard-charging Giulia in action accompanied by the hard-edged roar of the mid-size sport sedan’s new 380kW twin-turbocharged V6.
Apart from the new logo that will help relaunch the famous Italian brand, for the first time we also see the new Giulia’s active aero featuring a new front splitter that extends downwards to increase downforce at speed and folds away to reduce fuel consumption.
The new aero package is also thought to include similar air-bending aids under the body to improve high-speed stability.
Said to use weight-saving materials like carbon-fibre, aluminium and composite plastics, the Alfa achieves a 50:50 weight distribution, while the complex aero package also hints at the lengths Alfa engineers have gone to, to rival the likes of BMW's 3 Series and the new Jaguar XE.
It’s claimed the range-topping 380kW V6-powered Giulia Quadrifoglio Verde (QV) accelerates to 100km/h in just 3.9 seconds, making it a natural rival for the BMW M3.
