This (very) special edition Alfa Romeo MiTo is powered by a compact 1.4-litre MultiAir turbocharged petrol engine outputting 125kW, and will be the official "loan car" at Maserati dealers.

Whenever Maserati owners drop off their cars to be serviced, they will be handed the keys to one of these compact front-wheel drive Alfas, which are exclusive to dealers.

Tailored especially for Maserati owners, the special edition Alfa Romeo MiTo has a high end interior finish with Italian Pelle Frau leather seats, a leather steering wheel, satellite navigation, dual zone climate control, and a hands-free Blue&Me telephony system and USB port.

Bearing a 'limited edition' plaque on the dashpad, along with special aluminium kick plates with 'Alfa Romeo for Maserati' engravings, the MiTo's exterior is finished exclusively in a rich royal blue called Maserati Blu Oceano.

Alfa Romeo has ensured the sportiness that Maserati owners are used to has not been forgotten, with the MiTo riding on large 18-inch alloy wheels and decked out with a rear spoiler, sports bumper and aluminium pedals.

The chassis of the Mito for Maserati features the DNA system, which electronically controls the shock absorber settings to suit the driving style.

According to Maserati, the unique version of MiTo is being produced exclusively for Maserati dealers to use as loan cars.

Maserati explains that through its partnership with Alfa Romeo, its European network will be able to "offer customers a special car that reflects its own philosophy".

The Australian importer of Maserati product, Ateco Automotive, released a press statement that confirmed the special edition MiTo for Maserati would be available to local Maserati dealers.
