Alfa Romeo has launched special GT Junior editions based on both the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio models that are said to draw plenty of stylistic influence from the original GT 1300 Junior from the 1960s.
The most noticeable change is both the Italian SUV and sedan borrow from the original's palette and are painted in the same Lipari Ochre exterior paint that was available on the GT 1300 Junior.
The Stelvio GT Junior also gets black 21-inch alloy wheels, while the Giulia gets different new multi-spoke 19-inch rims.
Black is also used on the air intakes and the dual exhaust pipe finishes, and the chrome window trim is swapped for darker versions.
Inside, there's GT 1300 Junior decals embossed on the dash and head restraints, while black leather and carbon-fibre-style trim and aluminium sills are all employed.
Both special-editions are based on the Veloce trim versions of the Giulia and Stelvio, which means that under the bonnet there's the choice of either a 154kW 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel or a 206kW 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine.
Beloved of many Italian car enthusiasts, the GT 1300 was the Bertone-designed two-door coupe version based on the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT that was produced from 1965-1977.
Powered by a tiny 1290cc twin-cam four-cylinder that mustered just 66kW, what it lacked in performance (0-100km/h 12.6sec) it made up with well-balanced handling.
There's no word yet if the two GT Junior specials will be offered Down Under.
