Alfa Zagato coupe to bow at Villa D'Este Concours d'Elegance

Stunning 8C Competizione-based racecar set to star at Italian classic-car show

The recent Geneva motor show was graced by a pair of stunning Alfa Romeo-based concepts -- Pininfarina's 2uettottanta and Bertone's Pandion -- and now Italian compatriot Zagato is set to get a piece of the action.

Pictured alongside are the first official pictures of Zagato's Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa, which will be unveiled at the Villa D'Este Concours d'Elegance today (April 23).

The Milanese styling house has as yet released tech details about the voluptuous coupe, other than to reveal that it's based on the 8C Competizione's carbonfibre tubular chassis, clothed in a lightweight aluminium body.

The TZ3 Corsa allegedly retains the donor car's sweet-sounding 4.7-litre V8, six-speed sequential gearbox and double-wishbone suspension, but the rest of the nitty-gritty will be made public on Friday.

Zagato's creation adds to Alfa Romeo's centenary celebrations, as part of which it will take centre stage at the iconic Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.

The company says the TZ3 Corsa isn't a design study, but rather a race car that was commissioned by an unnamed enthusiast from Germany. The coupe is also reportedly meant to commemorate Alfa's and Zagato's association over the past 90 years.

The teaser pic doesn't give away too much -- other than the bonnet vents and aggressive headlights -- but all will be revealed on Friday.
