Swedish car-maker Volvo will next month offer those who have the Volvo On Call app to control some of the functions of their car using just their smart watch..
The new app, which works with both the Apple watch and Android wearables, will allow you to lock/unlock, locate, pre-heat or cool and monitor your car away from the vehicle.
The update, available towards the end of June, will work with tablets and smartphones and will allow users to send-to-car navigation directions.
According to Volvo the original Volvo On Call app that was launched back in 2001 in case of breakdown, theft, accident or emergency, has in recent years been evolved to include convenience features like sharing your car’s fuel level.
There is a catch, however. For the maximum use of all the app's new features you will need the new Sensus infotainment system that was recently introduced on the all-new, second-generation XC90 SUV.
Despite this, during the last 12 months Volvo says it has recorded eight million instances when the app was used for the remote heater function.
