Lexus has released its first official teaser of the new-generation 2021 Lexus NX that will make its world debut on June 12.
The image released overnight focuses on the new mid-size SUV's tailgate that shows off its pair of LED tail-lights that are interlinked by a full-width light bar.
This corresponds with leaked images that surfaced back in February, providing a full look at Lexus' rival for the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC.
Lexus Australia's top-selling model is set to receive an evolutionary design amid speculation it will switch to parent Toyota's latest TNGA-K architecture that underpins the current Toyota RAV4.
Beneath the skin, the new platform will herald the introduction of a full range of electrified engines, including a 225kW plug-in hybrid powertrain that will blend a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery.

The evidence of recently trademarked NX 350 and NX 350h names suggest some markets will also be offered a development of the 264kW 3.5-litre V6 petrol-electric hybrid that powers the Lexus LC 500h coupe.
An even more powerful hybrid badged NX 450h is also set to be introduced.

Inside, the NX cabin gets Lexus' next-gen approach to interior design that introduces an all-new larger infotainment touch-screen that dominates the central dash area.
Also immediately apparent is there’s no fiddly touch pad controller in the centre console, the gear shift arrangement is much more compact, there’s a wireless phone charging pad and separate controls for the dual-zone climate control, but no analogue clock.

A fully digital instrument cluster is also present.
With an Australian launch now anticipated later this year or early in 2022, it's thought pricing for the cheapest Lexus NX hybrid will kick off at around $60,000.
Stayed tuned as more details will be released with the official June 12 unveiling.
