All-new Honda NSX supercar successor sketched

Honda has detailed the cars, bikes, robots, power tools and aircraft it plans to reveal at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show on October 25 – and might have also teased an all-new replacement for the Honda NSX supercar.

Releasing a “key visual image” for its Tokyo motor show booth, Honda’s so-called ‘Dream Loop’ montage includes a sketch of what looks to be a futuristic NSX-style supercar.

The image is likely to herald the all-new Honda Specialty Sports Concept that will be displayed at the show, with the Japanese car-maker saying only that it will be all-electric and was developed with a focus on the “pleasure of driving” and “joy of handling”.

The Specialty Sports Concept is also said to offer greater levels of individuality and “free its users of time constraints” – suggesting it might also have a high level of autonomous driving capability.

Other concepts set for the renamed Tokyo show include the Sustaina-C concept that looks like a reclothed Honda e and features a body made out of recycled acrylic resin.

The same eco-friendly composite has been used for the Pocket Concept electric bike, while the SC r:Concept for an electric scooter gains swappable power packs that cut out downtime related to charging.

The Honda CI-MEV all-electric urban runabout will also be shown, targeting less abled urban dwellers.

Other new tech includes an autonomous work vehicle that’s not been pictured, plus a Honda Avatar Robot that’s said to include a multi-fingered robotic hand.

Using AI-supported tech, the new robotic aid allows users to remotely carry out tasks as if they were there in person.

More details should be revealed in the build-up to the new Tokyo show’s opening on October 25.
