All stops out for Melbourne’s 2015 Motorclassica

Australia’s rarest and most expensive cars in motion from October22

As the introduction Melbourne’s annual Motorclassica exhibition, a select group of 60 or so cars embracing ancient classics and astronomically expensive modern-day rarities (the Ferrari 288 GTO owned by Sydney’s Miles Sandy is valued at no less than $4 million) as well as around 20 collectable motorcycles will depart the New Quay precinct in Docklands on their way to the event venue at the Royal Exhibition Building.

To experience the memorable sights, smells and sounds, take note that the tour kicks off at 9.30am on Thursday October 22 and will travel through the CBD along La Trobe Street into Exhibition Street, then into Rathdowne Street before the arriving at the Motorclassica venue at around 10am.

The organisers say the rolling road show includes “some of Australia’s most valuable and rarest cars and motorcycles.” Many are part of private collections, while others are seeing the road for the very first time after lengthy restorations.

The new Docklands setting for kicking-off the Tour Classica is ideal, according to event director Paul Mathers. “Docklands is now one of Melbourne’s key city precincts and its harbour-side setting makes it the ideal place to kick off Tour Classica and this year’s Motorclassica event” he said.

Previous Tour Classicas have begun at the Albert Park Grand Prix track, Melbourne Zoo and Birrarung Marr.

The Motorclassica event runs from October 23 to October 25 and is claimed to be the country’s premier event for rare, exotic, historic, vintage, veteran, classic and collectable cars and motorcycles.
