Alpine teases next A110, hot R5 EV and Porsche Taycan rival

French brand’s new wave of electric performance cars to include hot hatch and sporty coupe

Alpine has previewed the first three models it will launch with its transition to a pure-electric brand from 2024, including an all-new replacement for the current Alpine A110 coupe.

In an image showing the silhouette of the three models Alpine plans to launch, the first is an unmistakable profile of a two-door coupe.

This is understood to be our first glimpse of the A110-replacing sports car that's currently being developed in partnership with Lotus and will sit on an all-new electric car platform.

The next model appears to share the outline with the retro-reboot Renault 5 EV. That makes sense, following the Renault Group's decision to axe Renault Sport and broaden Alpine's remit to developing faster versions of core Renault models.

If so, the small Alpine hot hatch will follow in the tyre tracks of the Renault 5 Alpine that just managed to beat the Volkswagen Golf GTI to market (by two months) back in 1976.

Less is known about the third vehicle teased by the reborn Alpine brand, but from the looks of it the silhouette suggests it will be a stylish four-door coupe rival for the Audi e-tron GT and the Porsche Taycan.

If so, expect the larger four-door to sit on the brand's CMF-EV platform that is highly versatile and has bee developed for long-range performance electric cars.

The teaser image was revealed by Renault boss Luca de Meo overnight, but he gave no timelines for each model, saying only that Alpine's first EV will make its debut in 2024.

Despite the lack of details, 2024 reportedly coincides with the debut of the Renault 5.

That said, Alpine execs will also be keen to swiftly replace the A110 and use the all-new coupe as a technological flagship to spearhead its reinvention as an EV brand.
