Alpine to launch seven new EVs by 2030

French brand lays out six-year strategy for sporty electric cars, including hatchback and multiple SUVs

Alpine will launch seven all-new electric cars from 2024 until 2030 as part of huge expansion plans that will see the French brand move from a niche sports car-maker to a premium global brand.

As part of the expansion, Alpine will branch out into new markets including the US from 2027, while a return to Australia is expected after side-impact safety regulations forced the removal of the Alpine A110 sports car from our market in 2021.

In Europe, the first of the seven EVs arrives next year with the launch of the 2024 Alpine A290 hot hatch, which is based on Renault’s CMF-B EV platform and shares plenty with the incoming Renault 5.

Next, a small-medium SUV dubbed the “Crossover GT” will land in 2025, before the long-awaited replacement for the all-electric Alpine A110 rocks up towards the end of 2026.

A second sports car, the A310, is also in the pipeline, likely taking the shape of a four-seat sports coupe that will be based on the same APP architecture as the A110.

What’s more, to help spearhead its North American tilt will be two new large EVs that are likely to be Alpine’s answer to the Porsche Macan and Porsche Cayenne SUVs.

Both have been widely tipped to be based on the same platform as the recently launched Lotus Eletre.

As well as the new EVs, Alpine says it will continue to invest in hydrogen internal combustion engine (ICE) technology, with the new zero-emissions tech likely to star in an evolution of the student-designed A4810 concept.

The move from niche to premium brand will help Alpine break even by 2026 and earn more than €8 billion ($A13.1b) by 2030, according to CEO Laurent Rossi.

Remaining committed to Formula 1 racing, the company also announced that its F1 team has raised £200 million ($A380m) with the help of new investors including celebrities Ryan Reynolds, Michael Jordan and Rob McElhenney.
