The original 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS from the 2009 blockbuster movie Fast and Furious 4 driven by Vin Diesel himself is up for auction this Saturday here in Australia.
The iconic film franchise of Fast and the Furious (which we adore), is one of the highest grossing film sagas in Hollywood movie history. So when the opportunity presents itself for an Australian car and film enthusiast to own a piece of movie history, you’d totally jump at the chance.
"This car was, in fact, the actual original ‘Hero Car’, driven by Vin Diesel himself on the set of the Fast and Furious 4 movie and was the principal car used whilst shooting the film," said Mr Hames, Chief Operations Officer for Lloyds Auctions.
"We expect this car to reach 6 figures this Saturday, but what the final figure will be is anyone’s guess as it will be a car to treasure and will go down in history forever,"
"A real driver knows exactly what's in his car" - Dominic Toretto
In true Fast and Furious style, the 4-speed manual car features a V8 engine, nitrous bottle, drift brakes and alloy wheels. In the film, the car was originally red but ahead of an audition race, Dom sands the original paint down to the bare metal and repaints it grey, and modifies the car under the hood.
The car was left exactly as it was to honour its role in the film and it comes with the Universal Studio Certificate of Title so you can prove to all your mates that you do have the real deal. It was even signed by Cody Walker, Paul Walker’s brother back in 2015.
The current owner purchased the car from American country and pop singer Jerry Wallace who is an avid car collector and imported the Chevrolet Chevelle SS into Australia in late 2012.
The Fast and Furious 4 hero car features as part of a massive online classic car auction happening this Saturday at Lloyds Auctions which includes over 100 classic cars and bikes from Honda to Kawasaki, Porsche to Ferrari.
If you’re interested in owning a piece of film history you can head to lloydsauctions.com.au and start your bidding. Bids close midday Saturday the 26th of September 2020.
