ANCAP: 2025 BYD Sealion 7 leads a charge of 5-star ratings
Geely EX5, Audi Q6 e-tron, Skoda Kodiaq and Chery Tiggo 4 Pro all garner five matching starsThe 2025 BYD Sealion 7 has posted the equal-best score of 93 per cent for its child occupant protection during safety testing at the hands of ANCAP.
Predictably, the mid-sized electric SUV went on to secure itself a full five-star rating, scoring 87 per cent for its adult occupant protection, 76 per cent for vulnerable road user protection and 78 per cent for its safety assists.
The only major low point on the Sealion 7’s scorecard was the ‘weak’ protection for the rear adult passenger’s chest in the full width test, but this wasn’t enough to stem the praise from ANCAP CEO Carla Hoorweg.
“As electrified vehicles continue to advance technologically, it’s encouraging to see equal investment in safety, ensuring that innovation and the protection of drivers, passengers and families go hand in hand,” she said.
“ANCAP strongly encourages the inclusion of features like child presence detection systems that can alert a driver when a child may have been unintentionally left in a car – this safety feature belongs on every family’s shopping list when purchasing a new car.”
Other new models crash tested recently included the 2025 Geely EX5, 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron, 2025 Skoda Kodiaq and 2025 Chery Tiggo 4 Pro, all of which were awarded five-star ratings.
