ANCAP blows Trailblazer's cover

Holden's new SUV revealed ahead of official embargo in safety authority's press release

This is the first 'official' look at Holden's new Trailblazer – a substantial update of the Colorado 7 with a name adopted from a long-serving model in GM's Chevrolet line-up.

The image shown has been published by ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Programme) in connection with its finding that the Trailblazer rates a five-star score for crash safety.

Unfortunately for Holden, which requested the press release be issued today -- a week before it reveals and launches the new Trailblazer, first drive reports of which are embargoed for a further week, until September 9 -- it failed to tell ANCAP not to publish the image with today's release.

For the record, the Trailblazer has achieved its five-star rating based on a crash test of the structurally identical Colorado pick-up. The Colorado, a dual-cab model, completed the testing with an overall score of 34.49 points out of a possible maximum of 37.
