ANCAP has launched a new website with the aim of providing crash test data more readily to the general public. The independent crash testing authority is generally regarded as the foremost body evaluating vehicle safety in the market today, but it seems the previous website wasn't meeting the needs of new-car buyers.
Officially announced today, a new website was developed in response to market research and, among the feedback, was the need for simplified information and a "more sophisticated search tool".
"Our latest ANOP market research has shown that more people are aware of ANCAP and its role in crash testing vehicles and publicising their safety ratings -- this new site will make it easier for new car buyers to compare the relative safety ratings of many new models in the market," ANCAP Chair, Lauchlan McIntosh was quoted as saying in a press release.
"It also explains how ANCAP works and the protocols used in its crash testing program. We welcome visitors to the site to learn about the benefits of choosing a safer car."
The new website is located at the same URL as the previous site: www.ancap.com.au.
In other news, ANCAP and the federal government are co-partners in a scheme to carry out increased testing of crash safety and enhance alliances with other crash test programs around the world.
ANCAP data can also be retrieved from the Carsales Network's New Car Showroom, along with Green Vehicle Guide ratings -- and both available via the desktop or on carsales.mobi.
