Apollo has confirmed it has begun developing a wild new hypercar called the Intensa Emozione, in cooperation with a company that runs Mercedes-AMG DTM racing program.
The recently re-branded, Bavarian-based maker of the Gumpert hypercar has confirmed its latest offering will be the "only modern day GT1-inspired car".
Two versions have been confirmed. A track-only rival to the McLaren P1 GTR and Aston Martin Vulcan, and a slightly less extreme road version that will follow.
Based around a carbon-fibre monocoque, the entire structure of which weighs just 105kg, Apollo says its latest creation will tip the scales at just 1250kg.
Powered by a naturally aspirated 6.3-litre V12 engine of unknown origin that produces a considerable 575kW/760Nm, the Intensa is claimed to hit 100km/h in just 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 335km/h.
Featuring motorsport-derived aerodynamics, the Intensa Emozione's design is dominated by an enormous fixed rear wing that, along with a rear diffuser of epic proportions help the track-focused hypercar pull a claimed 2g of lateral force while cornering and generate 1350kg at 300km/h.
Apollo says it wants to make just 10 Intensa Emoziones, each priced from £2.05 million ($A3.6 million).
It's not certain where the Intensa Emozione will be built but an existing alliance with Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus suggests production could be built at the US car-maker's Italian operation.
