Tech company Apple is not saying a word, but the Wall Street Journal is reporting that a senior executive named Bob Mansfield has taken the lead in the development of Apple's autonomous electric car.
Mansfield is the man who has previously headed up development of Apple's iPad (pictured), MacBook Air and iMac products.
To date, little is known about the vehicle development, which is understood to be conducted under the banner 'Project Titan'. Around 600 staff are believed to be working on the so-called iCar, which is anticipated to launch in 2019.
Although Apple has admitted nothing about its car, it's an open secret within the industry, and Holden has revealed that at least five of its staff have relocated to the USA to take part. Prospective market rival Tesla has been scornful of Apple's progress, with founder and CEO Elon Musk freely discussing the brain drain from his company as Apple poaches engineers by offering better pay and entitlements.
