The popular Mazda CX-8 has been updated with a range of new safety, comfort and convenience features adding $920 to the price of the Sport variants and $1100 for the flagship Mazda CX-8 Asaki.
All models are now equipped with G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC Plus), which is an enhancement of the manufacturer's active safety feature G-Vectoring Control. The newer system now offered in the CX-8 features 'direct yaw moment control', which Mazda claims improves vehicle stability and handling.
In addition, every variant in the CX-8 range gains Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and smartphone connectivity features, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The climate control fascia has been redesigned, with switches arrayed horizontally.
Externally, the CX-8 now features an LED light for the rear registration plate.
At entry level, the front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive Mazda CX-8 Sport gains a grey metallic finish for its 17-inch wheels, but the flagship CX-8 Asaki's 19-inch alloys are now finished in Brilliant Dark.
Other items now specified as standard for the CX-8 Asaki include front-seat ventilation, a seven-inch TFT LCD infotainment screen, a frameless rear-view mirror, revised overhead console and LED ambient lighting.
“Mazda CX-8 Diesel appeals to customers needing flexible space and the latest in safety for their family, but who don’t want to compromise on style or special features,” said Mazda Australia Managing Director, Vinesh Bhindi.
“The 2019 upgrade adds more practicality and panache to Mazda CX-8 Diesel, giving it a sharper edge in the large SUV category as a desirable addition to our customers’ lives,” Bhindi was quoted as saying in a press release.
Prices have risen, as follows:
Mazda CX-8 Sport (FWD) – $43,410 (+ $920)
Mazda CX-8 Sport (AWD) – $47,410 (+ $920)
