His latest project is definitely a mixture of all of these previous roles combined into one, going ‘undercover’ as a sleazy and boisterous fossil fuel loving salesman on a mission to highlight the benefits of going electric – by trying to sell the opposite.
This tongue-in-cheek video has Arnie donning a bad wig and a fake moustache and becoming the character known as Howard Kleiner. The Howard Kleiner character is no stranger to the online world, back in 2014 Arnie dressed up as Kleiner and went undercover to surprise gym goers in California and ran a personal training session.
His latest role has him trying hard to persuade new car buyers to consider fossil fuel cars over the EVs they were checking out at the dealership. Many of the customers recognised the Hollywood star straight away, the costume wasn’t as incognito as Arnie thought it would be. Plus that iconic accent is a dead giveaway.
In the video, one couple is considering a BMW i3 as it is quiet and has no direct pollution, while Howard insists they give a big, jacked up Hummer a try instead.
“Ahhh I love the small of exhaust. Smell this." He says.
"That's what we didn't want! No." The EV interested customer is not having a bar of it.
The video was made for Veloz, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to advancing EVs directing viewers to its Electric For All website as part of their latest campaign to get Americans to give up the gas.
Not an Oscar winning performance by the former bodybuilder but certainly an entertaining one. Check out the video here:
