Arrinera rolls out Poland's first supercar

We recently reported on Croatia’s eye-popping Rimac Concept_One and, not to be outdone, a small Polish concern known as Arrinera Automotive has conjured up its own supercar that seems to borrow liberally from the Lamborghini design manual

Although the sinister looking coupe is yet to be named, the company has revealed a host of technical details about the car, which allegedly goes on sale in 2013, priced in Europe from $160k.

This outlay gets you a claimed 0-100km/h of 3.2sec and v-max of 340km/h, courtesy of a Corvette ZR1-sourced, mid-mounted 6.2-litre supercharged V8 that kicks out a robust 478kW and 820Nm, relayed to the rear wheels via a six-speed Graziano sequential gearbox.

It stands to be more than a straight-line bully, as the multilink suspension set-up was honed by Lee Noble, who not only set up the Noble brand, but also engineered various products sold by Ultima and Ascari – all of which are renowned as good handlers. Stopping power should also be up to the mark, thanks to large 380mm discs up front and 350mm anchors at the rear.

Tipping the scales at just 1300kg, the Arrinera supercar uses a high-strength steel frame, around which is cloaked its sharp-edged, carbonfibre-intensive bodywork.

As dramatic as the Lambo-inspired styling is, the company says the vehicle pictured alongside is just a prototype and that the road-ready version will be “more organic, muscular and aerodynamic”. (In addition, it might prevent the legal eagles in Sant’Agata from being inclined to initiate any lawsuits)

Arrinera says it is also working on improving several of the car’s technical aspects before production ramps up at the end of this year.

Befitting its premium orientation, the supercar features a leather and carbonfibre-trimmed cabin with diamond-stitch inserts on the bolstered sports seats. LED ambient lighting and a navigation system will also be offered as options.

The company claims it has already taken orders for the car, with the first examples rolling out in the second quarter of 2013.

Going on face value, we have to admit $160k doesn’t sound like an excessive outlay for a car that allegedly offers Aventador-rivalling performance… if not the pedigree.
