Aston Martin has revealed a highly exclusive limited-edition version of its Vanquish flagship to celebrate 60 years of its 'Works' brand in Newport Pagnell.
In fact, just six of the Aston Martin Works 60th Anniversary models – based on both the Vanquish coupe and Volante convertible – will be produced.
Each vehicle will be subtly different to commemorate each of the six decades the British sports car brand is celebrating, but all will be "instantly recognisable as Works 60th Anniversary models", says Aston.
A highlight in the centre console of each unique Vanquish will be bespoke metal rotary control dials formed from the pistons of iconic Aston Martin engines that were rebuilt or reworked at some stage.
They include the powerplant of the DB2/4 MkII saloon sold between 1955 and 1965, as well as engines from the DB5 (1965-1975), V8 Coupe (1975-1985), V8 Vantage X-pack (1985-1995), V8 Vantage supercharged (1995-2005) and the Vanquish released in 2005.
Other individual touches will include different exterior paint and interior trim colours, including contrasting yellow stitching, carbon-fibre highlights and unique sill plates recalling the era of the particular model.
There are no mechanical changes, meaning the same 6.0-litre naturally aspirated V12 and eight-speed automatic transmission as the standard Vanquish.
The first of the six bespoke cars, which are created by Aston's Gaydon-based design team and its Q by Aston Martin personalisation service, was revealed overnight at the Buckinghamshire-based company's customer Christmas celebration, which marks the start of 12 months of anniversary activity at Aston Martin Works.
"This project has been a harmonious co-operation across the whole business, developed uniquely to celebrate 60 years of Aston Martin Works at Newport Pagnell," said Aston Martin Works Commercial Director, Paul Spires.
“I’m thrilled to be unveiling the first of these cars at our Christmas celebration, and look forward to seeing the remaining models being built and delivered to customers throughout the course of our anniversary year in 2015.”
Aston Martin has confirmed none of the six anniversary models will be imported Down Under.
