Aston guns for McLaren P1 with new Vulcan supercar

Aston Martin will shock the world with a surprise rival for the McLaren P1 at the Geneva motor show.

Aston Martin has announced it will reveal a new model called the Vulcan at the Geneva motor show.

Making the shock announcement on a brief Youtube video, the British car maker revealed no other information other than the date, time and venue of the unveiling.

Turn the volume up though and you can hear the soundtrack of the Vulcan being driven hard in the background.

It is believed that the noise is the sound of a large capacity V12 powered hypercar that will rival both the McLaren P1 and LaFerrari with some even speculating the new Aston could be a track-only supercar for the ultra wealthy.

If so, expect the Vulcan to be a match for the even more extreme P1 GTR and LaFerrari FXX K.

To come close to beating both of those cars' performance the Vulcan's V12 will need to produce at least 700-800kW and have a state-of-the-art aero package.

Expect the Vulcan to also cost in the region of $1.5-2m.

More information will be revealed on its official unveiling 3 March.
