Aston Martin will unveil its AMRB01 hypercar in two weeks.
Set to be unveiled at the company’s Gaydon HQ on July 5, the hypercar is the product of a joint venture between the storied British sports-car marque and Red Bull’s racing operation. Indeed, Red Bull F1 designer Adrian Newey is the driving force behind the design of the car.
The AMRB01 was officially confirmed at the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix in March.
Although it was hinted that the car would debut at this weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed (Britain’s de facto motor show), the car will now have its own ‘show’ as detailed above.
Early this year, Aston Martin boss Andy Palmer told motoring.com.au that planning for the car began in early 2015. The funding for the project was secured as part of the Brit brand’s ‘Second Century’ six-year production and marketing plan.
Palmer also confirmed AMRB01 would be built in right- and left-hand drive and homologated under low volume type approvals around the world.
Aston Martin will build “less than 100” of the cars and no official price has been announced. Speculation has placed price tags as high as $5.0m on the car.
The car is expected to be powered by a version of Aston’s new V12 which, in standard form, entered production this week.
Designed in-house and featured in the new DB11, the 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 engine develops 447kW and 700Nm and is built in Cologne (Germany) in a dedicated Aston facility.
