Aston Martin CEO, Andy Palmer, has tweeted new pictures of the upcoming DBX SUV.
Already confirmed for production, Aston’s first ever SUV appeared late last night on Twitter after the British boss photographed the DBX at Aston Martin’s Gaydon HQ.
Painted in a new colour called Mako Blue, behind the scenes Aston Martin engineers are known to be re-engineering the SUV to accept a conventional petrol engine, most likely Mercedes-AMG’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo, following the two firm’s recent technical partnership.
The production version is also thought to have four doors, instead of the show car’s two.
Officially confirmed for production by Aston Martin last April, the DBX was green lit after the British car-maker successfully sought an additional $380m from investors to press ahead with a production version.
The DBX concept was a surprise unveiling at the Geneva motor show last March and was created to cash in on the lucrative (and growing) luxury SUV market. The original concept was a pure electric vehicle with electric motors mounted in each wheel.
As well as the DBX, Palmer also snapped a sneak peak of what’s thought is a production version of the Vulcan track-only hypercar. In the foreground there’s also the DB10 concept Aston created for the next James Bond movie while outside is the new luxury Lagonda Taraf sedan.
