Aston Martin has made the unusual decision to launch a full range of accessories for its first SUV before the reveal of the all-new Aston Martin DBX itself.
The Aston Martin DBX is scheduled for a global reveal in December, but this hasn't stopped the luxury car-maker revealing 11 new individual packs and dealer-fit options for the big British crossover.
Despite the fact nobody outside of Aston Martin has yet seen the big SUV without its lens-flaring camo, accessories revealed tonight inclue illuminated tread plates, polished carbon-fibre tail pipe finishes, surfboard carriers and even branded tyre valve caps complete with Aston wings.
One might have expected Aston to offer a subtle sneak-peek at the DBX alongside the special luggage set, branded dog bed, dog bowls, saddle bag and baby seats, but there's very little of the all-new SUV to see here.
Instead the images reveal only that the first Aston off-roader will feature height-adjustable rear suspension for easier loading, ISOFIX rear seat anchors, a narrow fifth seat in the middle of the second row and the finest leather hides on every inch of the Aston SUV's interior, including the rear parcel shelf.
Cementing the DBX's lifestyle credentials, the list of accessories appears to include everything anyone with an 'active' outdoorsy lifestyle could ever want, such as a Snow Pack comprising a ski bag, roof-mounted ski racks and snow chains to avoid getting stuck on summer tyres.
Going beyond other car-makers, Aston's snow pack also includes boot warmers – an added luxury for the first downhill run of the day.
For those who like a long drive, Aston Martin will also offer a Touring Pack – a four-piece luggage set that includes cabin saddle bags, lockable stowage under the passenger seat and an emergency first-aid kit should you stumble upon an accident out on the road.
A Pet Pack, meanwhile, is claimed to minimise the worst your hound can do to your luxurious SUV by adding a bumper protector, branded blankets and even a portable dog washer.
For those poor (rich) souls who have to battle the daily traffic during the school run, the historic British sports car-maker recommends the Essential Pack that adds rear seat entertainment and a heated front cup-holder to keep your caramel macchiato (extra shot) hot.
If your related bunch of vandals are known car-wreckers, you'll also want to tick the box for the Interior Protection Pack, which adds seat covers, the rear bumper protector and tough, all-weather mats throughout the car.
For those who frequently enjoy dining alfresco, there's the Event Pack that adds a picnic hamper, blanket and event seating, plus extra storage for umbrellas. Finally, a range of hand-made leather child seats will also be made available.
Pricing is yet to be revealed and it's unlikely any of the accessory packs will be made available ahead of the actual vehicle's launch.
Set to arrive in Australia in 2020, the DBX is set to become Aston Martin's fastest-selling car of all time.
Powered by a high-output version of the Mercedes-AMG's twin-turbo V8, the DBX produces 405kW of power and 700Nm of torque – 30kW and 25Nm more than the same 4.0-litre V8 turbo that powers the Vantage V8.
This should see the DBX hit 100km/h in less than five seconds on its way to a top speed in excess of 300km/h.
Despite its larger size and weight, Aston Martin laims its big SUV will corner as hard as its baby Vantage coupe and brake as rapidly as the DBS Superleggera.
