Aston Martin has teamed up with EON Productions, the company behind the James Bond film franchise to recreate the famous DB5 which first featured in the 1964 classic, Goldfinger.
The limited run of 25 cars will be built at the original home of the DB5 by Aston Martin in England. Not only will these vehicles be built as authentic reproductions of the original DB5 but they will be so authentic to the films in which they featured that you even receive the ingenious gadgetry you’d expect from Q Branch including the revolving number plates.
All the Goldfinger edition cars will be produced to one specification – Silver Birch paint – just like the original. But hey, we wouldn’t want it any other way!
Andy Palmer, President and Chief Executive Officer of Aston Martin, said “To own an Aston Martin has long been an aspiration for James Bond fans, but to own a Silver Birch DB5, complete with gadgets and built to the highest standards in the very same factory as the original James Bond cars? Well, that is surely the ultimate collectors’ fantasy.”
As well as its first appearance in Goldfinger, the DB5 has featured in a further six James Bond films including Thunderball (1965), again with Sean Connery; GoldenEye (1995) and Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) with Pierce Brosnan and three appearances alongside Daniel Craig in Casino Royale (2006), Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015).
There is a downside to purchasing the £2.75m ($4.8m AUD) DB5 however – besides the price; the cars are not road legal so unfortunately no zipping through the streets of London or a casino rendezvous in Monaco for you.
If that price is too steep, we do have some more reasonably priced Aston Martin's you may prefer on carsales agent 007...
