Aston Martin has revealed what’s thought to be its last DB9 model before the whole range is replaced by the DB11 in 2017.
Called the DB9 GT, the new Aston coupe variant receives a more powerful a more version of the standard car’s 5.9-litre V12 that now produces 402kW/620Nm. The six-speed automatic gearbox carries over unchanged.
Aston claims the 22kW power boost over the standard car is enough to help the GT reach 100km/h from standstill in just 4.5 seconds and hit a limited 295km/h -- that’s an improvement of 0.1 seconds over the DB9 while top speed remains the same.
Differing from the regular DB9 via a black from splitter and rear diffuser, carbon-fibre tail inserts and bigger new 20-inch alloys, the GT also features a new infotainment system, GT badging on the leather seats and an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel. There’s also a steering wheel that’s said to be inspired by the One-77’s.
The new Aston Martin DB9 GT will get its first public outing at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend.
Pricing has yet to be announced but expect an increase of at least 15 per cent for the new GT, with pricing in the UK expected to start from around £150,000 ($A285,000).
The existing DB9 Coupe costs $349,000 in Australia, while the Volante convertible is priced at $380,500, making it Aston's most expensive model this side of the Vanquish.
