Aston Martin has revealed an even faster version of its forthcoming Valkyrie hypercar aimed squarely at multi-millionaire track-day fans.
Only 25 Valkyrie AMR Pro models are set to be made and reportedly all have eager buyers waiting for them.
Based on the ultra-lightweight, futuristic Valkyrie road car which goes on sale in 2019, the new AM Pro version is also the fruit of a collaboration between the British sports car-maker and F1's Red Bull Racing's designer, Adrian Newey.
Sharing the same naturally-aspirated, Cosworth-developed 6.5-litre V12 engine as the road car, the track-only version is expected to deliver more than 700kW.
Ditching 'luxuries' like climate-control and an infotainment screen, the already-lithe Aston hypercar has been on a further diet which extends to an even lighter weave of carbon-fibre used for the body, polycarbonate plastic employed in place of the road car's glass windscreen and a completely redesigned exhaust system.
Aston Martin equips the Valkyrie AMR Pro with the same sort of slick Michelin tyres fitted to a Le Mans-winning LMP1 race car and carbon-ceramic brakes as used on current F1 cars. Both are necessary to help manage the huge performance on offer, including its claimed 3.3g cornering g-force capability.
Braking hard should be considered an endurance event in itself in the flagship Aston as the driver has to withstand forces equivalent of 3.5g.
Top speed, if you can find a circuit with a straight long enough, is said to be in excess of 400km/h.
To cope with the performance available, Newey has completely redesigned the Valkyrie road car's aero package by introducing huge front and rear wings as well as new hidden active aero components to manage airflow under the body.
Like the Vulcan program, the lucky 25 buyers who end up with their very own Valkyrie AMR Pro will receive support, guidance and driver training from Red Bull Racing at dedicated track days at some of the world's finest race circuits.
