Famous Italian coachbuilder Zagato has unveiled its Aston Martin V12 Zagato Heritage Twins – two special rebodied versions of the previous-generation Aston Martin V12 coupe and roadster.
Designed by the Milan-based stylist but built in the UK by Warwickshire-based bespoke manufacturer R-Reforged, each of the 19 pairs that Zagato plans to produce cost an eye-watering £1.75 million ($A3.1m) each.
For that you get the Zagato coupe that was first revealed in 2011, and the never-been-seen-before Speedster variant that's new for 2020.
Like the hard-top, the Speedster gets a full carbon-fibre body, but it also boasts an entirely new aero that involves hundreds of detailed changes over the V12 roadster upon which it is based.
As part of the transformation the V12 Speedster gets a longer, sleeker windscreen and swoopy flying buttresses along its rear deck.
Under the bonnet, the naturally-aspirated 5.9-litre V12 has been boosted from 392kW to 448kW, thanks to a new intake and a full titanium exhaust.
Improving handling, the Twins sit 10mm lower than standard and have a 20mm wider front and rear track. Finally, new 19-inch forged centre-lock rims are shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres.
The cabin of both cars can be tailored to the individual buyer's unique tastes with an "almost infinite" range of colours, bespoke patterns, textures and leathers available.
According to R-Reforged, each vehicle takes 12 workers 16 weeks to assemble, a process that includes stripping down the base car and refreshing all worn components.
Meanwhile, the option of visual carbon-fibre instead of a traditional paint finish is claimed to add an incredible 400 hours to the build time.
The first set of Twins is said to be destined for the Andrea Zagato, the CEO of the Italian design house.
Deliveries are expected to begin next year after the suspension for both models is finetuned at a Spanish test facility in early 2021.
