A roofless version of the Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar has been teased ahead of its unveiling on August 12 at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California.
Created to help celebrate the 70th anniversary of Aston Martin selling its first car in the US, the wild Valkyrie roadster will be displayed alongside a historic collection of cars that will all pay tribute to the brand's North American success over the years.
It's not yet been revealed whether the Valkyrie Roadster will feature a carbon-fibre targa-style roof panel or if it's created to be completely roofless, like the recent Aston Martin V12 Speedster.
Other questions involve whether or not the alfresco Aston Valkyrie is a one-off or if the roadster version will be made in limited numbers.
Originally, Aston Martin said the total number of Valkyries would not exceed 150 road cars, with each hypercar selling for around £2-3million ($A3.8-5.7m).
Limited or not, the drop-top Valkyrie is expected to come with the coupe's incredible naturally-aspirated 6.5-litre V12 hybrid powertrain.
Featuring an electric motor that has been developed by Integral Powertrain and Rimac, which alone produces a punchy 119kW/280Nm, total power is an incredible 865kW and 900Nm of torque.
Aston Martin has yet to release full performance figures but a 0-100km/h time of around 2.5 seconds is expected, plus a top speed approaching 400km/h.
Removing the roof, it's thought, will prompt a considerable redesign of the Valkyrie's incredible aero that narrows the gap between an F1 racer and road car.
Thanks to its ultra-lightweight carbon-fibre monocoque and body, it's likely the weight gain from coupe to roadster will be minimal and engineers will have maintained a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio.
As well as the Valkyrie, the new production-ready Aston Martin Valhalla will also make its debut at the Pebble Beach car show, alongside the limited V12 Speedster and the £2.75 million ($A5.2m) James Bond DB5 Goldfinger Continuation.
