Aston Martin Vanquish scrubs up

British car-maker shows off customisable interior options for Vanquish ahead of impending Volante launch

Aston Martin has released a new video showing off some of the fancy interior options available to the resurrected Vanquish, its new top-of-the-line model which replaces the DBS.

The carbon-fibre sports car can be ordered with an inordinate amount of interior finishes as seen in the video below, and is available as a two-seater or a 2+2. It is expected to be joined by a convertible Volante version that will be unveiled at the 2013 Geneva motor show opening on March 5.

With its 6.0-litre V12 engine winding out 421kW and 620Nm, the new Vanquish has the ability to run out to a maximum speed of 295km/h, passing the 100km/h mark in just 4.1 seconds along the way.

As the newest Aston Martin using the brand’s VH architecture, it replaces the DBS model and boasts largely-carbon body parts along with an upgraded bonded aluminium monocoque construction that plays a part in reducing weight (by around 60kg) and lifting torsional rigidity by 25 per cent.

Weight distribution is said to be a balanced 50-50 front/rear and the V12 engine is located lower in the car to benefit both handling dynamics and pedestrian protection.

Similar to the Project AM 310 concept revealed early in 2012, the Vanquish was officially revealed in June last year and is offered with a six-speed ZF automatic transmission, refined to reduce shift times over the previous iteration by a claimed 37 per cent.

The 20-inch wheels are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tyres measuring 255/35 at the front and 305/30 at the back.

Although the Vanquish is clearly an evolution of the DBS, few Aston spotters will have trouble picking the new car.

The rear-end features skinny, curvy taillight graphics, the side windows have a new profile and up front there’s a refined version of the traditional Aston grille with new lower intake elements, exposed carbon fibre and the obligatory LED daytime running lights.

Inside, the dash retains the traditional Aston look but there has been a general refurbish to make everything cleaner and more ergonomic, and there’s a meaty Bang & Olufsen audio system to step in when you don’t wish to hear the musical backdrop provided by the V12 engine.
