Aston Martin Vantage GT12 arrives in Oz
Just three local buyers will take delivery of the ultra-limited volume race-car heritage coupeAston Martin has limited production of its Vantage GT12 to just 100 cars for global consumption – and three of those are coming to Australia.
The first one – and the only vehicle to be delivered in Queensland – has already arrived and has been photographed at Queensland Raceway.
Kevin Wall, regional manager for Aston Martin Australia, was quoted in a press release issued today, welcoming the arrival of the car, which is powered by a naturally-aspirated 6.0-litre V12 and features flared carbon-fibre front quarter panels and bonnet.
“There are only 100 Vantage GT12 units produced, and just three for Australia, so it is a special sight on Australian roads. The GT12 represents the core elements of Vantage: ultimate handling on the road and unmatched performance on the track.
“Aston Martin had a very successful year in Australia in 2015, and we are seeing strong interest continue this year, particularly off the back of the reveal of DB11 earlier this month,” Wall said.
The Vantage GT12 has been built as a tribute to Aston Martin's motor sport heritage. It was originally to be named GT3, but the company reportedly settled on the new name after objections were raised by Porsche.
Engine output from the tweaked V12 has been raised to 441kW and 625Nm, and Aston Martin claims a 3.5-second 0-100km/h time. Changes to the car's aero package have reduced its top speed, however, now 298km/h rather than the 330km/h top speed of the core vehicle.
The importer has not revealed the price paid for the car by the Australian buyers.
