Aston Martin's fledgling AMR performance sub-brand has announced that it will offer a major performance-enhancing upgrade to owners of the track-only Vulcan.
The new AMR Pro pack has been created for owners chasing quicker lap times and focuses on increasing downforce and boosting acceleration of the British hypercar.
Opt for the AMR Pro upgrades and you get new louvred panels above the front wheel arches that help suck out turbulent air, reducing front-end lift.
Large dive planes are also added to help pin the front end to the track. The huge splitter, meanwhile, gets new turning vanes fitted to its underside for improved steering response.
Sticking with the front of the car AMR engineers say they have also tweaked Aston's carbon-fibre manufacturing process and managed to slash 5kg off the weight of the engine cover.
At the rear, there's an enormous redesigned spoiler that gets a 20mm 'Gurney' flap. This, plus new wing endplates that sport additional 15mm Gurneys, have helped boost downforce by 27 per cent.
AMR claims the Vulcan's extensive tweaks enhance the hypercar's traction, and deliver better front-end grip and improved steering response.
Instead of boosting power of the 600kW/779Nm 7.0-litre V12, AMR engineers have left well alone choosing to offer Vulcan owners shorter gear ratios for the rear Xtrac six-speed sequential transaxle.
Created to rival the McLaren P1 GTR and Ferrari FXX K, just 24 Vulcans were ever made. Aston Martin is expected to approach Vulcan owners individually to offer the AMR Pro upgrades. Pricing hasn't been confirmed.
Since the Vulcan originally cost around $3 million, it's thought the AMR Pro pack will cost more than $100,000. A high rate of uptake is expected.
