Audi is secretly readying a sedan version of its RS 3 hyper-hatch, according to a new leak on Instagram.
The single image, believed to have been accidentally uploaded by Instagram user @mercmilan06, was deleted shortly after it was posted -- but not before car blog Worldcarfans.com had screenshot it.
Unveiled at what’s thought to have been an Audi USA employee meeting, the top-secret sedan version of the RS 3 is expected to come powered with the same 270kW/465Nm turbocharged 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine as the RS 3 Sportback.
That means the small sedan will easily match the hatchback’s 0-100km/h time of just 4.3 seconds, thanks to its seven-speed dual-clutch transmission’s launch control feature and the added advantage of standard quattro all-wheel drive.
It’s not yet known if we’ll get the sedan version of the RS 3, which will go head to head with the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45, in Australia.
It’s also unclear, if it does come here, whether or not it will cost the same as the RS 3 Sportback (that currently sells for $78,900 plus on-road costs) or if it will demand a premium.
We suspect the latter.
