Audi Australia has confirmed to carsales that the special-edition 2024 Audi RS 4 Avant Edition 25 Years (pictured) will not be heading Down Under, with no local allocation from the exclusive production run of just 250 units globally.
That means local Audi Sport fans will miss out on the most powerful iteration of the RS 4 to date, with the celebratory new model boasting a 14kW increase in power from its twin-turbo V6 – to 390kW.
The Edition 25 Years is also the quickest RS 4 yet, reaching 100km/h from standstill in 3.7sec – on its way to a higher 300km/h – while chassis modifications promise to improve the fast wagon’s already-sharp handling.
It’s not all bad news, though – Audi Australia has confirmed the still-intense Audi RS 4 Avant Competition Plus will finally arrive in the third quarter of this year.
Priced from $180,090 plus on-road costs, the Competition Plus is positioned $13,990 upstream of the standard RS 4 Avant, bringing a host of performance, dynamic and cosmetic enhancements.
Headlining the makeover are fully adjustable ‘RS sport suspension pro’ coilovers, a bespoke transmission mapping, upgraded quattro sport differential, lighter and louder exhaust system, higher-performance tyres, elevated speed limiter (290km/h), retuned ABS system, recalibrated power steering and reprogrammed Dynamic drive mode.
Acceleration from 0-100km/h takes 3.9sec – two-tenths quicker than the standard car.
Other enhancements include less sound proofing to save weight and improve the aural stakes in tandem with the new exhaust system, black exterior badging and black exhaust tips.
Optional equipment for the incoming flagship includes Dinamica-lined RS front bucket seats ($1300), 20-inch lightweight wheels, Pirelli P Zero Corsa high-performance tyres and the existing RS Design package ($3400), which adds an Alcantara steering wheel, gear selector and centre console knee pads, red-edged seat belts and RS floor mats.
The Audi RS 5 Competition Plus will also be available in Coupe and Sportback guise, both priced from $183,090 plus ORCs.
Audi Australia managing director Jeff Mannering predicted the Competition Plus models would be “highly sought-after collectibles” on account of their enhanced performance and limited supply, although build numbers for Australia are still to be confirmed.
