Audi RS 4 Avant more affordable

Audi Australia announces a sub-$150K list price for its RS-kicking ‘everyday sportscar'
The kids will never get to soccer practice faster, or cheaper, than in the new Audi RS 4 Avant. The ‘everyday sportscar’ arrives in Australia at a significant $20K price reduction from the previous model, and is on sale from today from $149,400 (MRLP).
And price isn’t the only area where Audi has shaved numbers from the figures of its superseded model. The new RS 4 Avant is two-tenths of a second quicker in the 0-100km/h sprint, now just 4.7 seconds, and even more efficient, travelling 100km on 10.7 litres of premium unleaded – a 21 per cent improvement.
Limited to a top speed of 250km/h the RS 4 Avant is available with a factory-tuned option to bump that figure to 280km/h, though Audi Australia cautions this selection will be via ‘special order’ only.
Audi Australia says the RS 4 Avant is one of the most highly anticipated models of 2013 and is the return of an icon for the four-ringed brand’s Renn Sport division. The new model arrives as standard with a high-revving 331kW/430Nm V8 FSI engine married exclusively to Audi’s seven-speed S tronic transmission. The whole package is clawed to a halt by massive eight-caliper cross-drilled brakes with tasty ceramic stoppers offered optionally.
As with every Audi RS model, power is delivered to all four wheels via Audi’s renowned quattro all-wheel drive system. In RS 4 Avant it is further featured in the latest stage of development with the torque vectoring self-locking crown gear centre differential and sports rear differential.
Equipment inclusions see the RS 4 Avant offered with Audi’s MMI navigation system, Nappa leather upholstery, electrically-adjustable memory seats up front, Audi park assist with rear-view camera, electric tailgate, metallic paint, convenience (proximity) key, and an electro-chromatic mirror as standard.
The model is available optionally with Audi’s Dynamic Sports Package which bundles adjustable suspension, a sports exhaust system and 20-inch alloy wheels for $7200.
