Audi RS Q3 Aussie-spec details revealed in full

Hot SUV and Sportback 'coupe' will offer all the latest gadgets, but some will cost extra

Australian buyers keen to lay their hands on the Audi RS Q3 and RS Q3 Sportback could see their small, prestige performance SUV break the $100,000 barrier if they get carried away ticking option boxes on the order form.

Prices will start from $89,900 for the conventional RS Q3, rising to $92,900 for the swoopier RS Q3 Sportback. But Audi will also offer a host of optional features that could take the purchase price into the stratosphere.

A cosmetic pack, the RS extended design package in red will cost buyers $2500 and comprises 'Express Red' Alcantara upholstery for the door armrests, dash and the upper sections of the front-seat side bolsters. In addition, the pack incorporates red edging for the front seatbelts and outboard rear seatbelts. The steering wheel is trimmed in black Alcantara with red stitching, as is the gear-shift knob and the lever moves inside a leather gaiter. Finally, the floor mats are black and feature Express Red stitching and an RS logo.

Another RS extended design cosmetic pack is available for the same price and features contrasting 'Turbo Blue' rather than Express Red.

For $400, Audi will swap the car's standard 21-inch alloy wheels (in five-arm 'trigon' design and matte titanium grey finish) for black alloys of the same size, but featuring a '5-V' spoke polygon design. The tyres are the same size – 255/35 – for both rims.

Ceramic brakes are a big-ticket item at $10,600, but Audi won't charge any more for premium paint colours.

The colours for the RS Q3 are: Nardo Grey, Pulse Orange, Turbo Blue, Kyalami Green, Glacier White metallic, Tango Red metallic, Mythos Black metallic and Daytona Grey pearlescent.

Specifying the Audi badging in black will cost the RS Q3 buyer an extra $700 and carbon-fibre exterior mirror caps are priced at $1300. A gloss carbon insert for the engine cover costs $1200. Two types of optional sunroof are available: a dual-pane type with electric sunblind priced at $2900 for the RS Q3 and a single-pane sunroof with manual sunblind at $2700 for the RS Q3 Sportback.

Interior inlays cost $400 for piano-black finish or $850 for carbon twill.

Standard safety features for the RS Q3 include Attention Assist, six airbags, AEB with pedestrian and cyclist detection between 5km/h and 85km/h and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The AEB system and the adaptive cruise control will bring the RS Q3 to a complete halt to avoid colliding with a vehicle in front.

Additionally, the RS Q3 comes with lane-change and lane-departure warning systems, acoustic guidance with front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, 360-degree camera vision, Emergency Assist and Cross-Traffic Assist.

Comfort and convenience features fitted as standard include three-zone climate control, ambient lighting, rain-sensing wipers/auto-on headlights, navigation, Virtual Cockpit, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, smartphone wireless charging and a Bang & Olufsen audio system featuring DAB+ digital radio and 15 speakers.

Local deliveries of the RS Q3 and RS Q3 Sportback are due to commence in August.
