The Audi Skysphere concept car has been teased ahead of its virtual world debut, which will be streamed live from the German car-maker’s new US design studio in Malibu at 7:00pm CEST on August 10 (next Wednesday morning for Aussies).
At the same time, Audi has confirmed the Skysphere is an electric roadster that will be the first of three new concepts showcasing its “vision for the future of progressive luxury”.
Indeed, the line drawing you see here and a separate darkened studio image also released overnight reveal a low-slung two-door sports car with a very long bonnet and, given Audi says it’s a convertible, what appears to be a folding hard-top roof.
Naturally, the sleek roadster is all-electric and Audi says its interior will be an interactive space and a “holistic digital ecosystem for a new onboard vehicle experience”.
Indeed the all-new cabin design will be the focus of the next week’s ‘Celebration of Progress’ virtual presentation, where Audi designer Gael Buzyn will detail the design of the exterior “sphere” that surrounds its occupants.
No other details have been revealed, but Audi AG sales and marketing chief Hildegard Wortmann will reveal all next week during the Skysphere’s online presentation.
