Audi TTS Competition marks sales milestone

Prestige importer gauging public reaction in Australia
Audi has pulled the wraps of a limited-edition variant of its TT sports car to celebrate 500,000 sales of the second-generation model.
Dubbed the TTS Competition, the variant will be limited to 500 units, which are available in either Imola Yellow or Nimbus Grey, with both hues being exclusive to the TTS Competition.
All versions are also fitted with a fixed rear spoiler, supported by matt aluminium-look struts. Customers who enjoy a wind-in-the-hair driving experience can choose between either a black or grey cloth top, and all models are fitted with Audi’s five-spoke 19-inch 'Rotor arm' alloy wheel design.
Inside, the cabin is decked out with Audi’s steel grey Impulse leather package, with the seats featuring Imola yellow side bolsters and contrasting stitching. The door trims are adorned with embossed '1 of 500' aluminium badges, signalling to passengers that they are in something a little special.
The additions to the TTS Competition are more than cosmetic, with drivers being treated to a contoured steering wheel and a rear parking system.
Under the bonnet, the 2.0 TFSI engine delivers 200kW and 350Nm coupled to either a six speed S-tronic or manual transmission, and power is delivered to the black top via Audi’s renowned quattro all-wheel drive system.
Coupé variants fitted with the S-tronic transmission complete the 0-100km/h dash in 5.3 seconds, with the manual versions at touch slower at 5.5 seconds. Audi quotes average fuel consumption for the S-tronic at 7.7L/100km and 7.9L/100km for coupés fitted with the manual.
TTS Competition roadsters fitted with the S-tronic hit 100km/h in 5.5 seconds, with the manual achieving the same target in 5.7 seconds. S-tronic versions of the roadster average 7.9L/100km and the manual delivers an average of 8.1L/100km.
Audi Australia has yet to confirm whether any TTS Competition models will be making their way Down Under, with the manufacturer assessing local customer interest before securing an allocation from the factory.
