Audi's triple treat

Audi will unveil three new 2010 production models at the Frankfurt motor show

The Frankfurt motor show is Germany's biggest automotive exhibition and the local manufacturers, including Audi, will be going all out to make headlines.

Audi is expected to unveil a number of exciting vehicles, including three new 2010 production models at Frankfurt.

These new models -- A3, A4 and A5 variants -- personify "dynamics and efficiency" according to a press statement, all of which "embody Audi's conviction that dynamics and efficiency are not mutually exclusive."

The S5 Sportback is the first of the trio of new models, and will be a crowd pleaser with its sleek design, powerful stance and formidable supercharged V6 engine.

Outputting 245kW/440Nm, the Audi S5 Sportback is a potent sports car, able to accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 5.4secs then reaching an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.

The 3.0-litre supercharged V6 delivers effortless power yet manages a (claimed) class-leading fuel economy rating of 9.7L/100km.

In addition to the highly desirable S5 Sportback, Audi will launch another forced induction petrol model in the form of the A3 1.2 TFSI.

Deriving power from a compact and frugal 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine that takes advantage of direct petrol injection and turbocharging, the new A3 model outputs 77kW/175Nm, giving it a top speed of 190km/h, while recording an average fuel usage of 5.5L/100km and CO2 output of 127g/km -- both impressively low figures.

The third new vehicle falling under the "dynamics and efficiency" umbrella that will displayed on the Audi stand in Frankfurt is the A4 3.0 TDI.

Labelled a "clean diesel quattro" this 3.0-litre turbo A4 model packs a powerful punch, propelling the vehicle to 100km/h from rest in just 6.2secs, while using a meagre 6.7L/100km. The engine already meets Euro VI emission standards, which don't come into force until 2014. This is partly due to the inclusion of a DeNOX catalytic converter and the injection of an additive (AdBlue), which helps split the nitrogen oxides into nitrogen and water, therefore reducing noxious emissions.

As well as its dynamic and efficient trio of new models expect Audi to release a real showstopper, and stay tuned to the Carsales Network for more coverage.
