There was an Aussie battler on the floor of Frankfurt motor show. Connexion, an ASX-listed tech company was there spruiking miRoamer -- its internet radio app which is now part of the suite of apps available via MirrorLink.
MirrorLink is one of the emerging ‘standards’ that allow smartphones to ‘mirror’ their installed apps on an enabled car infotainment system.
Featured on a number of Honda, PSA, Volkswagen Group and the latest Mercedes-Benz models, Mirrorlink provides access to navigation, music and phone apps via the car’s interface. The apps run on the smartphone, but can be seen on the car’s native display and heard via the vehicles audio system.
The miRoamer internet radio app is one of the first apps certified via MirrorLink’s Developer Fast Track program. It’s inclusion in the MirrorLink product is seen as a strong positive tick for the Aussie-developed internet radio app.
At Frankfurt, Connexion also launched an Android version of miRo amer on Google Play, thus, says the company “making it available through Ford SYNC AppLink integration for up to five million Ford vehicles globally”.
Connexion says miRoamer ’s MirrorLink certification is expected to “significantly impact miRoamer’s distribution in the coming months”.
“We are thrilled that miRoamer is being showcased as part of MirrorLink by strong automotive brands... As our next generation internet radio and music entertainment product, miRoamer is quickly becoming a standard feature for the internet-connected car,” Connexion boss, George Parthimos stated.
Connexion is based in Melbourne. Its other core product, Flex, is mobile/desktop based fleet management tool which is able to track a range of real time and historical information including vehicle locations, distance travelled, fuel consumption and absolute and average speeds travelled.
