The 991 series of Porsche's best known sports car, the 911 Carrera, is expanding once more.
Porsche has announced today that the performance enhanced GTS is officially on sale, from $268,700. Deliveries to Australian buyers will commence from February 2015.
In the 911 range, the GTS slots in between the 911 Carrera S and the 911 GT3, which Porsche describes as a 'street-legal sports car optimised for the race track'. Available in coupe or convertible styles, with rear- or all-wheel drive and a choice of seven-speed manual or PDK dual-clutch transmissions, the 316kW 911 GTS coupe with PDK transmission can complete the 0-100km/h run in four seconds (4.2 for the Cabriolet). Yet the fuel consumption figures remain the same as those for the 911 S, and range between 8.7L/100km for the 911 Carrera GTS coupe and 10.0L/100km for the 911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet.
Standard equipment includes bi-xenon headlights/PDLS (Porsche Dynamic Light System), a sports exhaust, Alcantara interior, leather-trimmed sports seats with Alcantara centre inserts, Sport Chrono and PASM (active dampers).
The GTS rides on 20-inch wheels, and at a ride height 10mm lower than the 911 S. Both the rear- and all-wheel drive variants are wrapped in the wide-body and even wider track of the 911 Carrera 4. Other identifying features include special trim elements at the front, along with smoked headlight covers, black strips on the rear intake screen and black chrome-plated exhaust pipes.
